Have a Professional Health Degree: How to Apply
Entering the MEP with an existing health related degree
Due to the competitive nature of our program, the majority of students entering the Midwifery Education Program have some prior post secondary education, and many of our students hold another (and sometimes more than one) post secondary degree when they enter the program. Most individuals who enter the program with prior degree experience enter either the 4 year full time or 5 year part time program of study. We welcome students from many backgrounds and expect that should you be offered admission, your prior post secondary education will be of benefit to you in the MEP.
The 2 year Post Baccalaureate program for Health Professionals (PBHP)
If you have both a health professional baccalaureate degree, such as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from an accredited university or equivalent, as well as significant (e.g. > 1 year post degree) labour and delivery care experience, then you may be considered for the 2 year accelerated Post-Baccalaureate Program for Health Professionals (PBHP).
Candidates interested in the PBHP should review the following prior to submission of their application:
(PDF file) Information about the Post Baccalaureate Program for Health Professionals
(PDF file) The 4-year full-time program
(PDF file) The 5-year part-time program
(PDF file) The 2-year Post Baccalaureate Program for Health Professionals (PBHP).
Requests to be considered for the PBHP, are made in the Program of study section of the Midwifery Form which all applicants submit as part of their application to the program. Note that this process is revised from previous years. To be considered for the PBHP, you will need to provide additional documentation related to your status as a health care provider and provide a work history.
As with entrance to the MEP in general, entrance to the PBHP is competitive. Each year, a select number of applicants who have requested consideration to the PBHP will be offered a PBHP interview. During a PBHP interview, we review the applicant's qualifications and work history, and assess their eligibility and suitability for the PBHP.
Applicants offered admission to the PBHP can decide whether to accept it or instead choose a place within the 4-year MEP.
